The Rumble Strips hit £32k!
We caught up with The Rumble Strips not long ago, and talked about the joys of upcoming success
With their new single 'Alarm Clock' out this week, and lead singer Charlie Waller hitting the headlines at SXSW for trying to enter a club through a side window, we thought it was the perfect time to let on what we learnt when we spoke to the band last month.
MTV.co.uk caught up with the Rumble's trumpeter Henry Clark and asked how it felt to be on the cusp of hitting the big time.
"We don't really feel like we've made it yet," he confessed. "It's like reaching 32,000 in millionaire, you can't go back on releasing an album, but you can get better!"
Clarke talks about their sound as being "lively" and "epic sounding" but maintains that he wants it to stay "rough around the edges," and it's this which makes it so much fun to listen to.
So is it fun to record? "No!" he laughs, "We're no fun at all in the studio! It's a shame but we're really quite serious.
"I guess it's like The Office, though. You know, it wouldn't be funny if we werent being serious. Maybe that's why it works..."
And it undoubtedly does. The backing of Sara Cox and MTV's Zane Lowe has put The Strips in a position where Clark was prepared to put it on the line and say "we think we've got Glastonbury " which would be great!"
And it would, for the festival and for the boys, assuming Charlie Waller can avoid trying to climb through any more windows
Or maybe not ... you go lad!
