MTV Style | Steal The Simpsons' Style With These Rad Collaborations
Topshop, Bathing Ape and Uniqlo have teamed up with Bart and co...
“Fashion changes, style endures,” Coco Chanel once said. Which makes The Simpsons – who have endured on the small screen since 1989 – undoubtedly the most stylish TV family around.
Now, following Jeremy Scott’s homage to the yellow, goggle-eyed clan at his Autumn/Winter 2012 show, the rest of fashionland has finally cottoned onto the fact that The Simpsons rock and, to coincide with their 25th anniversary this year, you can expect a slew of chic collaborations featuring Bart, Lisa and co in the next few months.
First stop, Uniqlo, who are releasing a t-shirt line with classic Simpsons images this spring, including a trompe l’oeil shirt ‘n’ tie (with obligatory doughnut stain) and Japanese washing powder mascot and Homer lookalike Mr Sparkle. Threadless, meanwhile, have tapped artists and fans across the globe to create a 29-piece Simpsons t-shirt collection, one of which features the classic ‘Homer disappearing backwards into a bush’ scene.
Joyrich LA have hopped on board with a second Simpsons collaboration, featuring a gold chain-wearing Bart on jogging trousers, jackets and caps with a collection that will have you channeling Springfield style from head to toe. Then there’s Bathing Ape’s line, which includes a letterman jacket featuring the fab family themselves, and Topshop’s cute patterned pants, which you could just spend hours looking at to find every Simpsons character (Warning: avoid doing this in public. People will think you’re just staring at your crotch). Plus we hear H&M, Eleven Paris and Zara all have some Simpsons surprises up their sleeves too.
So if you’re freaking out about what to wear this summer, take some advice from Springfield bad boy Bart, and don’t have a cow, man. Snap up any of this lot and you’ll look like a trillion dollars.
