The Simpsons is to kill off one of its "iconic" characters this season, according to executive producer Al Jean.
The long-running animated sitcom is now in its 25th series - which began screening last weekend in the US.
Jean told the Canada Sun: "I'll give you a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character, but I won't say who it is."
However his clue does not narrow things down hugely, since the show boasts 25 Emmy winners from its illustrious history.
The opening episode of the 25th season spoofed TV drama Homeland - with Kristen Wiig playing a federal agent.

The show is also [uuid=9172d2d3-36a4-4781-8085-8c34d3e987e6]set to stage a crossover[/uuid] with long-term rival Family Guy.
