The Tide Talk Having The Vamps As Bosses & Why They're No 5SOS...
"Yeah we just eat a lot of pudding…"
Yes, The Vamps, average age probably about 12, have signed a band. What have you done lately? Meet The Tide, aka Austin, Levi, Drew and Nate who hail from California and are here to make an impression.
You'd be forgiven for taking a first glance at the band, reading they're signed by The Vamps and making a snap judgement that you've heard it all before. Taking a listen of current single 'Click My Fingers' with its nod to drum and bass might be a curveball, but they're quick to distinguish themselves from current not-boyband 5 Seconds Of Summer.
"We're different than 5SOS - they're a little more Green Day, a little bit more like K-Rock," Austin told us. "I think that we're more pop/dance, you know if you like Calvin Harris but at the same time you like Bruno Mars, a good old Bruno Mars jam, that's kind of what you're looking at. Not like 'pop' dance, like [it] kinda makes you feel like you're the coolest guy on the planet."
Having seen Austin's X Factor auditions in the US, The Vamps reached out and set up some auditions to form a band around him, scouring YouTube and the Internet for the best new talent out there. But what's it like having them as bosses?
"You kind of forget that they're bosses," Austin added, "'cause we just kinda hang out. We write music sometimes, they're like producing on our album and stuff so that'll be cool and yeah we just eat a lot of pudding…"
'Click My Fingers' is out now.
