The Time Traveller’s Wife Is Being Made Into A TV Show

Here's everything we know about the new TV show.

Get ready to swoon and feel a bit creeped out all over again, because HBO is bringing fantasy romance The Time Traveller’s Wife to the small screen. Even more excitingly, according to Deadline, they’ve recruited Sherlock creatorSteven Moffat to head things up, with Moffatset to write and exec-produce.

If you’re not familiar with the original book, or the 2009 film it spawned starring Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana, the story follows the life-long romance between Henry and Claire, which is complicated by the former’s time-travelling abilities. Happily, having done his time on Doctor Who, Moffat is no stranger to such temporal oddness…

“I read Audrey Niffenegger’s ‘The Time Traveller’s Wife’ many years ago, and I fell in love with it,” said Moffat. “In fact, I wrote a Doctor Who episode called The Girl In The Fireplace as a direct response to it. When, in her next novel, Audrey had a character watching that very episode, I realized she was probably on to me.”

ABC had previously attempted to get a TV adaptation off the ground back in 2009, but the project never materialised. Hopefully HBO are about to put the situation right this time around…
