MTV Review: The Vaccines & Pretty Vicious Blow The Roof Off Brixton Academy
What a show…
If I kept my distance?
Would you send a hurricane
As proof of your existence?
If I pick up speed
Will it take me with you?
Cause I wanna know for sure
Who you've been running into
You're so cold
But I am just hot air
With the weight of the word
Coming down harder, harder
Just give me a sign
Give me a sign
Just give me a sign
Give me a sign
Just give me a sign
Give me a sign
Baby be kind
Give me a sign
When I lack conviction
And you're done convincing me
And I put my mind to rest
Would you go quietly?
You're so bad
I'm not a lot of good
With the weight of the world
Coming down harder, harder
Just give me a sign
Give me a sign
Just give me a sign
Give me a sign
Just give me a sign
Give me a sign
I'll throw in a line
Give me a sign
Coming down
Coming down
Coming down
Just give me a sign
Give me a sign
Just give me a sign
Give me a sign
Throw me a line
Give me a sign
Give me a sign
Last night (Thursday 26th November) we enjoyed a night of amazing live music at London’s Brixton Academy.
With a headline set from The Vaccines and an amazing support slot from up and coming rockers Pretty Vicious, we couldn’t have asked for more.
Welsh rock band Pretty Vicious took to the stage to warm the crowd up for the main event, and believe us when we say you’ll be hearing much more about them in the coming months.
Four teenagers from Merthyr, South Wales, have taken the rock scene by storm having featured on BBC Introducing, been signed by Virgin EMI, as well as being highly hyped about over the last 12 months.
The crowd at Brixton welcomed the teens and they absolutely smashed their set performing songs such as ‘Cave Song’ and ‘National Plastics’. Watch out because these guys aren’t just a bunch of teens, they’re a bunch of teens with an awful lot of potential.
The Vaccines took to the stage at Brixton for the third and final time this week, and in fact, as frontman Justin Young revealed, this was their TENTH time performing at the venue!
For a band as accustomed to touring as The Vaccines, you might expect a lack of enthusiasm, however it was completely the opposite as they exuded the same energy as they did when they were first starting out.
In fact, like a fine wine, these guys have got better with time. Having seen The Vaccines many times over the years, we can say with confidence that they are at the top of their game.
Don't tell me who you lost it to
Didn't we say we had a deal?
Didn't I say how bad i feel
Everyone needs a helping hand
Who said I would not understand?
Someone up the social scale
For when you're going off the rails have
Post break up sex that helps you forget your ex
What did you expect from post break up sex?
Leave it til the guilt consumes
I found you in the nearest room
All our friends were unaware
Most had just passed out downstairs
To think I'd hoped you'd be okay
Now can't think of what to say
Maybe I misunderstood
But I can't believe you're feeling good
From post break up sex
That helps you forget your ex
What did you expect from post break up sex?
Post break up sex that helps you forget your ex
What did you expect from post break up sex?
Oh when you love somebody, but you find someone (uh huh huh)
And it all unravels and becomes undone (uh huh huh, uh huh huh, uh huh huh)
Post break up sex that helps you forget your ex
What did you expect from post break up sex?
Post break up sex that helps you forget your ex
What did you expect from post break up sex?
They performed tracks ranging from their debut What Did You Expect From The Vaccines right through to their latest record English Graffiti.
Highlights came in the form of raucous hit ‘Teenage Icon’ right through to one of the first songs they ever wrote and performed, ‘Post Break Up Sex’.
It was a night to remember for Vaccines fans everywhere - one of impeccable, bombastic indie rock music performed with an infectious enthusiasm that left the crowd grinning from ear to ear.
I was on a plate but it doesn't matter
You can cut the cord on me but I got plenty
And hindsight sees in twenty-twenty
Tomorrow your heart through light in the attic
Living in your shadow has been too dramatic
Tripping up on everything and double blinding
Don't tell me you need reminding
Cause I'm through
Thinking 'bout you
I'm through
Thinking 'bout you
Oh, I'm through
Thinking 'bout you
I'm through
Thinking 'bout you
Only wanted you
But I'm through
But I'm through
Thinking 'bout you
Could've been the power as if heaven sent me
Fell into the echo of another memory
Call it negativity or just distortion
Blow it out of all proportion
Rode it through another from a new perspective
When I'm over-thinking I am too selective
So many are so lonely from another time oh
How I felt you'll never know
Cause I'm through
Thinking 'bout you
I'm through
Thinking 'bout you
Oh, I'm through
Thinking 'bout you
I'm through
Thinking 'bout you
Only wanted you
But I'm through
But I'm through
Thinking 'bout you
Serve an ultimatum on a silver platter
I was on a plate but it doesn't matter
You can cut the cord on me but I got plenty
And hindsight sees in twenty-twenty
I'm through
Thinking 'bout you
I'm through
Thinking 'bout you
Oh, I'm through
Thinking 'bout you
I'm through
Thinking 'bout you
I'm through
Thinking 'bout you
Only wanted you
But I'm through
But I'm through
Thinking 'bout you
