Sam And Sophie Voted Off The Voice
Matt and Sueleen and Joelle Moses have survived the first vote-off...
The Voice following the first public vote.
Sam, who Will.I.Am was forced to make the tough decision to oust either Sophie or Joelle Moses.
With a difficult choice to make, Sir Tom Jones made it clear that he could "only judge it on last night's performance" and voted to save a speechless Matt and Sueleen.
A tearful Sam insisted: "This isn't the end for me." Though he confessed it felt as though his heart had been "ripped out," the gracious singer had nothing but praise for his mentor, saying: "I've learnt so much."
Then it was Will's turn to face the music. The Black Eyed Peas star described both his acts as "amazing talents" but in the end, Joelle's powerful rendition of I'm Going Down by Mary J Blige kept her in the competition, sending 17-year-old Sophie home.
As Will assured the emotional teen that he and his team would be there whenever she needed them, Sophie praised her mentor, saying: "I couldn't have had a better coach... He let me be myself."
Next week Team Danny and Team Jessie will do battle in the second of the live shows.
