The Wanted Clarify One Direction Comments
Max & Nathan have hit back at reports suggesting they slammed 1D...
As we previously reported, [uuid=c73405d9-220a-4bd5-a946-a24a788686c3]Jonas Brothers.
He was quoted as saying: "I’m not sure how well they’re actually doing yet. They’re more faces, if you know what I mean.
"I don’t think people really look at us over there as the same kind of band because I think people look at them more like a Jonas Brothers sort of band that are very TV and children’s magazine based. They make magazines instead of actually hearing them on the radio.
"I think our audience over there is sort of 18 to 25 or 30. We have a lot of radio play but I think we’re more of a music band."
Max has since taken to Twitter to explain his statement, claiming he believes his interview was "twisted" to create drama.
George tweeted: "Just to clear up... I think interviews have been twisted and made into much dramtatic than what they were.. We appreciate all other artists (sic)
"And all fans of any age, whether youre 1 or 90. Anyone who says or thinks different is full of s**t. Hope this puts peoples minds at rest xx"
Max's bandmate Nathan Sykes has also taken to the micro-blogging site to defend remarks he allegedly made about 1D.
The People claim he said: "If you look at One Direction's chart position and then look at ours, they're not really even our rivals. They have different fans to us. We don't want their fans, they're too young."
"We laugh and say that their fans are our fans' younger sisters. We have our own success going on in America and it isn't just with the music.
"Unlike One Direction we don't have Simon [Cowell] but we don't need him either. He is too controlling for us - we like to have control of our own music.
He reportedly added: "We like to sit and write our songs, decide what we do but, like any of The X Factor acts, One Direction don't really have much of a choice about what they do."
Sykes has since tweeted: "When someone takes your words and twists them its like a knife in the back #whathappenedtothegoodguys?!"
In other related news, The Wanted have announced that their debut album will be released in America on 24th April, following the huge success of their first US single, Glad You Came.
