The Wanted pop stars Siva Kaneswaran and Jay McGuiness were threatened with a knife by an aggressive beggar in Denver, Colorado, it has been reported.

The pop pair were accosted by the homeless man after leaving a cinema during some of their down time on their current tour.

TMZ reports that the man had asked them for money, with Siva obliging and handing over a few dollars. However the beggar was apparently unhappy with the amount and pulled a knife, demanding more cash.

A scuffle is reported to have followed, with the boys making their escape and deciding not to alert the authorities.

However the band's official Twitter page downplayed the report, writing: "Also to put everyone's minds at ease, Siva & Jay are just fine. Any reports of being "attacked" are untrue. Tho they did catch a movie ;)."
