The Girls Aloud star has caused controversy by putting through both Katie Waissell and Cher Lloyd, despite dodgy final auditions.

He said: “What is the point of doing your audition if it is not based on that? If she had made up her mind already then why not everyone just go after the first audition and not bother auditioning again.

“Sometimes it's a bit heart-wrenching when you watch someone get crushed but it gets people talking.”

Reports today claimed that the hugely popular Gamu Nhengu was barred from going further in the competition because of complications with her visa.
