The Weeknd Announces New Album & Has He Changed His Signature Hairstyle?

Gone are the signature dreadlocks & 'Starboy' is coming soon...

A lot has happened over the last 24 hours with The Weeknd, including some pretty drastic changes that we're still trying to digest. We'll break it down for you...

First, we have the promise of new music, and not only that, a brand new single featuring the one and only Daft Punk. It's a match made in musical heaven and iseverything we wanted and more.

You can listen to the song right here:

Next, we have a title AND release date for his new record. What we know so far is that it's gonna be called 'Starboy'and it will be released on 25th November 2016. Yep, we're already counting down the days.

Those of you with good investigatory skills will also have noticed that the album isavailable to pre-order on iTunes, and one other song title is already listed. ‘False Alarm’ is the only other song name on the pre-order list, and we got a little bit too excited about this.

And if that wasn't already anough to digest, he's gone and changed his Instagram handle from '@abelxo' to'@theweeknd', with an assisting post saying ‘r.i.p “@abelxo”’.

A few artists have recently made this move towards more pulled together social platforms. Take Tyler, The Creator for example, gone are the days of @fucktyler, instead he's just gone for his stage name as his Twitter handle. Does this mean artists are getting more serious? Maybe, just maybe…

Finally, and perhaps the biggest, most shocking news in all of this is that The Weeknd's signature hairstyle is no more. In some of the album artwork he posted on Instagramhe's gone for the chopand his synonymous dreadlocks are gone.

He's gone for a slicker look reminiscent of his early days with some fans speculating about whether this means the music will be like his earlier stuff too. They do make a very valid point...

Needless to say we’re SO excited at the prospect of new music from The Weeknd and can't wait to hear the full album.
