Wizard Of Oz 'Getting 3D Imax Release'
Movie classic remastered for its 75th anniversary...
The Wizard Of Oz is set to be given a special one-week theatrical run in Imax and 3D in September to celebrate its 75th anniversary.
The classic movie, which starred Judy Garland as Dorothy, has been remastered by Warner Brothers and is reported by USA Today to have already been test screened.
Greg Foster, chairman and president of Imax Entertainment, said The Wizard Of Oz is "as iconic as they come".
"It was one of the first movies that truly came out at you with an explosion of colour," he said.
"The sound was exceptional, the sharpness was exceptional. But it's the colour that stands out. What they could do is truly amazing, maybe what people felt when they first saw it.
"That must have been an amazing experience to see it then, to be truly taken away to another world. That's what we'd like to do."
An international run is expected for the movie along with the US screenings.
