5 Minutes With… Sneakbo
The Wrap Up: How did the hook up happen with you and Plastik Funk and Tujamo for 'Dr. Who'?
Sneakbo: Basically, 3 Beat got in touch with my manager Vash, sent him the beat for ‘Who’ and he played it to me. I liked it so I decided to jump on it and we recreated it, turning it into ‘Dr Who!’.
TWU: You recently told Zane Lowe that your 'Certified' EP will be released soon. Have you got a date yet?
Sneakbo: No date just yet, but hopefully it will be the next thing I release after 'Dr Who!'.
TWU: What can we expect from the EP?
Sneakbo: I don’t want to give too much away yet, but you can expect a couple of UK collaborations and a big Afrobeat collaboration on it too. I’m just talking about my life and what I’ve been through on it. There’s some music for the clubs too.
TWU: What do you want fans to take away from the project?
Sneakbo: I just want them to understand me on a different level… I have a lot of fans who know me from my club tracks like ‘The Wave’, but I want them hear what else I have to offer outside of that.
TWU: Do you reckon you'll work with Drake at any point, given that he's a fan of your work?
Sneakbo: I hope so. He has said he’d like to do a song, so hopefully something we can do in the future.
TWU: Got any live shows coming up?
Sneakbo: I’ll be doing all the islands this summer like Malia, Ibiza, Majorca and Napa. You can check my website for all the dates.
TWU: Who's your favourite female artist right now?
Sneakbo: Nicki Minaj because she has her own style and is very confident woman...and she’s beautiful [laughs].
TWU: Can’t argue with that. Who's your favourite male artist right now?
Sneakbo: Most probably Drake because of the way he speaks about things… you can somehow relate. There’s at least one song on his album that everyone can connect with.
TWU: If you could collaborate with anyone right now, who would it be and why?
Sneakbo: It would have to be with Meek Mill. I’d love to collaborate with him because I’m a big fan and right now he’s one of my favourites, definitely.
TWU: What genre most inspires you right now?
Sneakbo: It has to be hip-hop.
TWU: What was the last album you listened to?
Sneakbo: Rick Ross - ‘Mastermind’.
TWU: Where has been your favourite place to perform?
Sneakbo: Wireless Festival!
Sneakbo: What's your poison?
TWU: Grey Goose with cranberry.
TWU: Yum. Where is your favourite place in London and why?
Sneakbo: It has to be Brixton because I grew up there; all my friends and family are there. When I’m there, I feel at home.
TWU: MTV are cooking you dinner, anything you want. What would you have?
Sneakbo: Mmm... Pepper steak and rice.
TWU: Good choice. Blondes or brunettes?
TWU: How would your ideal Friday night go?
Sneakbo: I’d probably go to a club, have fun, get drunk and be with my friends... Just doing something lively and outdoors.
TWU: Tell us a career highlight of yours.
Sneakbo: It has to be when I was chilling with Drake in a club; one of my songs came on and he knew the lyrics, like every word. I’ve got too many moments to mention to be honest...
TWU: What do you hope to achieve this year?
Sneakbo: This year I hope to get my first no.1 record and from there just keep getting top-10 hits.
