Adele Goes Up Against Two Past Winners For Mercury Prize
Adele has been chilling somewhere near the top of the charts with her second album, ’21’, ever since it was first released at the beginning of 2011. It therefore comes as no surprise that she has been announced as one of twelve artists shortlisted for the Barclaycard Mercury Prize for Album Of The Year 2011...
This award looks to honour music of any genre by British or Irish artists, based solely on the music on the album. Although, in commercial terms, Adele dominates the shortlist – having sold 2.7 million of the 3.9 million sales of the 12 albums combined.
Also in the running for this year’s prize are previous winners Elbow and PJ Harvey, as well as Tinie Tempah and James Blake. The winner will be announced September 6.
