Amy Winehouse's Father Is To Meet With Home Office To Discuss New Rehab Centre
It’s unfortunate that it takes the unfortunate demise of someone very much in the public eye to change something that clearly isn’t working. As Russell Brand said in his touching piece on Amy Winehouse: "We need to review the way society treats addicts, not as criminals, but as sick people in need of care..."
And it looks like that’s what is (finally) being done now. Amy Winehouse’s father, Mitch, is to meet up with the Home Office to set up a rehabilitation centre in Amy’s memory.
Joined by Amy’s manager and an addiction expert, they will be highlighting and addressing the gaps in the current residential treatment services for those who can’t afford private treatment.
