Azealia Banks Defends Homophobic Slur
The latest ‘tweef’ to hit the interwebs comes in the form of Angel Haze and Azealia Banks’ increasingly lame tweets and launching of diss tracks. But, as they say, be careful what you tweet – especially when you’re angry! Azealia Banks seems to have offended a whole host of people in the process of attempting to diss the fast rising ‘New York’ rapper…
The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation are the latest to slam the rapper for her homophobic tweet against Perez Hilton – who found himself caught in the crossfire when he took the side of Angel Haze.
The ‘BBD’ rapper called Hilton “d*ckbreath” and a “messy fagg*t,” before going on to tell him to “gobble a d*ck.”
Banks later went on to attempt to defend what she said, tweeting: “A faggot is not a homosexual male. A faggot is any male who acts like a female. There’s a BIG difference.”
But GLAAD disagree, arguing that the word ‘fagg*t’ is a term “almost universally used by bullies, often as part of a larger verbal or physical assault.”
“Undoubtedly there are gay kids who follow her on Twitter who hear this word in an entirely different context,” they continued, in a statement published on their website.
“This word hurts those kids, no matter what Banks meant by it.”
