Azealia Banks Sales Increase After Gay Slur
Last week, Azealia Banks hit the news when she took to Twitter to bicker with Angel Haze after writing on the social networking site that if you are not born in New York City, you should not try to ‘claim’ it. Given the fact that Angel released the track ‘New York’ even though she wasn’t raised there, she took offence, which led to a war of words…
After several diss songs, gossip blogger Perez Hilton got involved, taking Angel Haze’s side. Banks was not impressed as Perez previously claimed to be a fan of hers, which led to the pair engaging in a war of words of their own.
Things got a little too heated though when Azealia responded to a comment of Hilton’s, calling him a ‘messy f*ggot’. Following the homophobic slur, the sales of Banks’ ‘1991’ EP have increased by 18%, with sales of ‘212’ rising by 3%.
