Beyonce And Jay-Z Host Obama Fundraiser
Jay Z and Beyonce hosted a lavish fund-raising party for President Obama last night in New York at Hov's very own 40/40 club. Obama addressed up to 100 supporters at the fund-raiser, who paid around $40,000 a piece for the privilege to sit and sip champagne with the president…
According to The Washington Post, President Obama opened the night by thanking the power couple, before revealing how much he has in common with the rapper: "Jay-Z now knows, you know, what my life is like,” the president said. “We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are.” He turned to his host and added: ”So, you know. So we’ve got a little bond there. It’s hard, but it’s okay.”
Beyonce did not go unnoticed by the president as he said: “She carries herself with such class and poise and has so much talent,” before thanking her for being a role model to his two daughters Sasha and Malia.
The 40/40 club underwent a $10 million renovation with the inclusion of a bespoke Armand de Brignac Gold Champagne Tower. According to The Daily Mail, the club rep said: "It’s floor-to-ceiling gold bottles in the entire space. It’s beautiful — breath-taking."
Beyonce was thrilled to be able to throw the fundraiser for the president, as she introduced Obama with this speech: "I can’t tell you how proud we are to host tonight’s event with President Obama... We believe in his vision.”
All of the proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee of Obama for America, the Democratic National Committee and several state Democratic parties.
Obama's appearance at the 40/40 club is set to be last stint in NYC before the election in November.
