Dappy Affray Trial Delayed So His Tour Can Go Ahead
Former N-Dubz frontman Dappy is facing up to six months in prison following an alleged incident which took place at a Guildford petrol station in April this year. However, due to a plea from the rappers record label, he is not due to stand trial until January 2013…
According to NME, the alleged incident took place when Dappy and one of the other attendants got into a disagreement with another group of people at the petrol station which ended up in a full scale brawl, resulting in three men being left with serious facial injuries following the incident.
The ‘No Regrets’ rapper will stand trial charged with affray and if convicted faces a £5,000 fine and up to six months in prison.
STV reports that due to label commitments the star has been granted extra time to fulfil his work commitments, with his lawyer stating: ''My client is in the music industry and he has a number of commitments.
''His debut [solo] album is out on October 8 and he is on tour from November 28 to December 21… £1 million has been invested in him and the band [by the record company]. The only way this money can be made back is if it's properly promoted.''
The rapper and the other three defendants deny all charges and are due to be tried on January 7.
