Dizzee Rascal Wants To Collaborate With Tom Jones
Homegrown talent Dizzee Rascal recently spoke out about his forthcoming fifth studio album, warning fans not to expect a return to his grime roots. This may have been evident, however, in regards to the kinds of collaborators Dizzee is attempting to attract. The ‘Fix Up Look Sharp’ rapper revealed his desire to collaborate with legend and The Voice UK coach Tom Jones…
“Tom Jones is the original gangsta so one day I’ll get him,” said Dizzee in an interview with the Daily Star.
“I was just lucky other people’s schedules meant they could do it. I’m blessed to have Robbie Williams, Tinie Tempah and Sean Kingston on there,” he added.
But the album is said to be leaps and bounds away from his previous offerings. “It’s the most positive, happy album I could make over three years.
“I wrote a lot about my experiences in America, a lot of it is me soaking up LA, Miami, Houston, it was organic.”
He went on to warn fans not to expect a similar offering to his 2003 debut Mercury Prize-winning ‘Boy In Da Corner’. “Some people will never let the grime thing go. My fifth album is not meant to sound like my first album. You can’t have an album containing all the same things.”
‘The Fifth’ is set for release July 1.
