EP REVIEW: Mr Bigz – S.U.M.M.E.R
The larger than life rapper is back with his upcoming release, 'S.U.M.M.E.R'...
Just as we thought we’d waved goodbye to summer for another year following a dreary bank holiday weekend, Mr Bigz is back to brighten up our days with his brand new EP, ‘S.U.M.M.E.R’. With cameos from Max Marshall, Giggs and Wretch 32 this is sure to be another solid hit…
After dropping the genre-breaking ‘My Funked Up Soul’ in 2013, the ever-shrinking Mr Bigz is back with another certified banger. Drafting in some impressive cameo features, this body of work follows on where #MFUS left off; with synthy funk tracks such as 'Starlight', placed alongside the Wretch 32 assisted ‘Finer Taste’.
While throwback samples feature heavily on the EP, his flows are fresher than ever, with the ‘Flygerian’ MC strongly affirming his place in the UK Urban hall of fame. The EPs stand out track has to be BBC 1Xtra playlisted ‘The Ride’ featuring fellow Londoner Giggs, the track gives listeners an essence of the silky undertones of 1970s soul, all while the rappers go bar-for-bar on each verse.
Keeping the sound alive, Bigz hooked up with pop songstress Max Marshall for the banger ‘Soul Food’ – which features soothing woodwind instruments and the ‘Your Love is Like’ songstress’ honeyed vocals, topping off a solid body of work.
