Fresh: Shystie – ‘Doppelgänger’ (Azealia Banks Diss)
Shystie has decided to let the music do the talking after recently getting caught up in a drama with ‘212’ rapper Azealia Banks. The London MC released the track ‘Doppelgänger’ yesterday, premiering on Charlie Sloth’s BBC 1Xtra radio show. The fiery diss hears the MC attack the Harlem artist, saying her ‘lips are blacker than T-Pain’ and she’s a ‘burnt out stripper’; along with plenty of other jabs…
The track was born after Shy released the video for her song ‘Control It’ featuring Banks, who after allegedly approving the video, called it ‘bogus’ and attempted to have her record label remove it from the internet.
Shystie previously said to The Juice that the situation surprised her, adding: “If they told us, at any point, that they didn't like the video, we would have accommodated the changes – especially as they viewed it months ago.
“It was actually upsetting to me, as I've done so much for her and her family outside of music. I've lent her money, sorted out her hair, took her team out clubbing, etc. We were all cool, like family. She told me that I was one of the best female artists out, and I felt she generally wanted to build a working relationship. I think the fame and pressure forces her to do stupid things, starting all these dumb publicity stunts.”
Have a listen to ‘Doppelgänger’ after the jump.
