In The Lab With Labrinth
Hey guys, I’m back! Hope you’re all good. Hopefully the sun is gonna stick around, because I’m off to Glastonbury! Really looking forward to it as I’ve never been before, we’ll definitely have some fun down there...
I’ve always imagined Glastonbury to be a bit like sitting in someone’s armpit – in terms of getting drunk and then laying there not having washed for three days. Do you think it might be a bit too much for me? I hope it lives up to the hype, although I must admit, I’m not camping…
I have some cool garms picked out to wear. I don’t want to over-do it, though. There’ll be no Oswald Boateng suit this time! Well, not without wellies anyway. I remember at my first ever festival, I wore tweed Clarks. I was a real festival virgin back then, and I ended up with mud all over my shoes. Not a good look.
I’ve been playing a lot of universities this month in preparation for Glastonbury, so that we can smash it. I’ve been playing a number of exclusive tracks from my album as well and they’ve all gone down really well, which is particularly great because they’re not songs people already know. I also flew over to New York this month to work with Stargate – who has worked with a bunch of superstars, including Ne-Yo and Rihanna – which was a great experience for me. I do really like it out there, the hot dogs are sick! I plan on going back out there very soon to work.
There’s no place like home, though. I’ve just bought myself another studio and I’ll be spending even more time there than usual. You guys know how much I love being in the studio! But moving on, I felt really bad when Cher Lloyd’s debut single leaked online earlier this month. It’s such a shame, because Cher is a really nice girl. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard her sound. I know she’s been working with a lot of underground artists on her album, so she’s bound to surprise a few people when it all comes out.
I actually bumped into Cher at the recent SB.TV website launch, where I also hung out with Loick Essien and Keri Hilson. I’ve been asked to work with Keri, but unfortunately I had to say no at the moment while I concentrate on my own album. I really like her, though. The launch was great fun and it was good to see all the SB.TV guys, they’ve done a lot to help break new artists in the industry and it was good to show support for them.
Next month, I’m going to be doing lots of great things that I’m excited about. I’m talking ‘take over the world’ stuff here guys. Unfortunately, I can’t talk about it all, just yet! I’ll let you know when I can. I’ll be meeting up with Tinie Tempah as I HAVE to be on his next album. I’m also playing Wireless Festival and Alton Towers too, which I can’t wait for. Plus there will be lots of rehearsals with my band, as usual.
In October and November of this year, I’m gonna be joining Professor Green on tour. I know we’re doing London, Bristol, Nottingham, Liverpool and more. Hope to see you all there to party with us!
Right, that’s all for now folks. I’ve gotta get my Glasto on!
