We chat with the British production duo about their new project...
Production duo Star. One have released their highly-anticipated mixtape, ‘Elements’, with stand out songs such as ‘Birthday’ and ‘No Way’ featuring the likes of C4, Trim, Thabo, G Frsh, P Money and Doctor. The mixtape is a versatile piece of work, taking influences from grime, drum ‘n’ bass, hip-hop and electro. Adam and Joe are not only producers but also DJs who have performed at Glastonbury and Wireless - and did we mention they’re also radio presenters? Its clear the multi-talented duo is here to stay.
The Wrap Up: What was the first piece of music you made as a duo?
Star. One: It was a remix of Rasta Mouse theme song! It got played on Radio 1. That was the first one we did together and the second was a refix of Jamie Woon's ‘Lady Luck’.
TWU: Who has been your favourite artist to work with?
S.O: They are all kind of different… Aynzli Jones has mad energy - mad in a good way - he'll be running around in the studio! P Money was great too, he came in and just wrote three verses - it was so quick and it was so sick. Another one is Thabo who is on the G Frsh track called ‘Mystify’ and also on ‘No Way’ - he can pick up melodies so quickly.
TWU: What's the next move for the 'Elements' mixtape?
S.O: We have a couple of remixes coming out and then we are looking in to maybe releasing an EP. Since we've done videos for ‘Birthday’ and ‘No Way’, we are going to be pushing ‘King’ - we are hoping there will be a video for that and ‘Never Give Up’.
TWU: What are your plans and goals for the next few years?
S.O: We just want to make as much good music as possible and work with as many artists as we can.
