Jammer & Maxsta Talk 'lotm5' And Lines You Don't Cross
The DVD for Lord of the Mics V came out this week, which features clashes from the likes of Blizzard and Big Shizz, and the much-hyped rounds between Maxsta and Lil Nasty, which had Twitter going off – surely, you know why by now.
We had a quick chat with some of the guys involved about the legacy of the series, and why sometimes you have to draw a line in lyrical content to keep the peace. Jammer spoke about not allowing MCs to talk trash about their contenders mum whilst battling.
“For me, I think if you’re educated, you’re a lyricist and you can spit, you shouldn’t have to diss a man’s mum. There’s a million other things you can do that are intelligent. I get that it’s funny, but LOTM is a showcase of the elite and their excellence, and the best that ever did it didn’t do that. So the rest that have come after shouldn’t.”
Maxsta also chipped in. “I think it's good they banned the ‘mum things’, because as much as we say we’re going to keep it professional, it's a different atmosphere when you get in there.”
He added: “The whole LOTM experience was great. I think it’s exciting for the fans, it's definitely great I'm a part of it, as are my friends Shizz and Realz; it just feels like it was meant to be.”
Shizz agreed, saying: "I hope in ten years time we've created classics for the generation to look back to, as we do with all the ones from LOTM1, for instance."
