Jay-Z And P Diddy Will Be First Hip-Hop Billionaires? Birdman Disagrees…
The two top money earners in the rap game, Jay-Z and P Diddy, are battling head-to-head to become the first billionaires in their shared industry. According to the analysis by Forbes Magazine, the potential to earn this title is great for both men with various streams of revenue, some unrelated to music, flowing for both business moguls…
However, there is one hip-hop artist who believes that he and his team have the power to eventually surpass Jigga and Diddy in the money race. The CEO of Cash Money Records, Birdman, confidently states that he and his protégé, Lil Wayne, are on their way to the top of the billionaire list with the Young Money/Cash Money empire.
Clearly not happy with the analysis, Birdman expresses his own views in an email to Forbes, saying: “I think Young Money/Cash Money would be the first billion-dollar brand in hip-hop. We’re strong and growing every day as a brand and fast. Within the next few years, we will be billionaires.”
By Forbes’ latest count, Diddy is currently the closest with an estimated net worth of $500 million, most of which comes from business ventures, such as his Sean John and Enyce clothing lines, his share in Ciroc Vodka, Blue Flame and record label, Bad Boy. Jay-Z is right behind his wealthy hip-hop pal, with an estimated fortune of $450 million.
Jay’s assets include a money-spinning $150 million Live National deal, the 40/40 club chain, cosmetic company Carol’s Daughter, and his partial ownership of the New Jersey (soon to be Brooklyn) Nets – amongst other deals. Dr. Dre and 50 Cent are also in the running for the billionaire title.
