Kanye West Discusses The Making Of ‘Cruel Summer’
Whilst his team have been raving about this years most talked-about hip-hop album, ‘Cruel Summer’, the man behind the project finally decided to do a little promo time. Discussing the album, what makes him tick musically and what is was like to collaborate with so many different artists, Kanye West released the video online last night…
He started by discussing his own character and how it forms the music he makes: "I like when I get mad at music because it's so good. It's like, 'oh s**t, why didn't we think of that? Why didn't we do that?'
“I'm not interested in things unless they hit me in a certain place in my heart and my gut. I get bored very easily. I'm majorly underwhelmed in general. I'm looking for some form of excitement for this music to be our outlet."
‘Ye also said that the LP does not define the ‘Clique’, but is simply a ‘snapshot’ of their life at current: "This isn’t the beginning of the conversation, this isn’t the end of the conversation. It’s our offering as a collective of a sonic snapshot of what’s happening right now, 2012.”
The ‘Mercy’ rapper then took it upon himself to create a new word whilst he explained what the LP was trying to achieve: “We take it really serious that we make the best product we can, but also we’re light with it too. We just wanna have fun and commune and festivalize—I’m not sure if that’s currently a word but it will be afterwards.”
