Kanye West Signs Q-Tip To G.o.o.d. Music!
G.O.O.D Music welcomes yet another addition to the clan. Q-Tip, who is a former member of A Tribe Called Quest, has signed a deal with Kanye West's imprint in association with Def Jam, making him the newest addition to the G.O.O.D Music family. The 42-year-old will release a new album under the new label next year...
Q-Tip was previously signed to Universal Motown, under which he released 'The Renaissance' album in 2008. Now he joins Kid Cudi, John Legend, Pusha T and Big Sean on the new label and is already at work on his debut album, 'The Last Zulu'. The Chairman & CEO of Universal Republic and Island Def Jam, Barry Weiss, said he's "thrilled" to have the opportunity to work with Q-Tip again, having previously worked with the hip-hop pioneer in the past.
Barry had nothing but kind words about the rapper: "He is a respected voice in the music community as shown by his acclaimed solo albums and countless contributions to the work of other artists. His creativity continues to surpass all boundaries of hip-hop, R&B, pop, and jazz. We welcome Q-Tip to the G.O.O.D. Music/Island Def Jam family."
The rapper says the opportunity to work with Def Jam is both an exciting and humbling experience for him, and reconnecting with Barry Weiss is a "great thing." He also added: "As far as G.O.O.D. Music, I’m excited to solidify my working relationship with Kanye, and I look forward to all the opportunities that lie ahead in our partnership. I will do my best to present the most cutting edge music I can."
