Kanye West Sued For Copyright Infringement… Again
Earlier this year, Kanye West was accused of copyright infringement but came out triumphant after winning
a lawsuit over the song ‘Stronger’. The 'Mercy' rapper has now been sued again over samples
used on his ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ LP, which is his fifth album…
Billboard, a record label called TufAmerica claim that on Yeezy’s ‘Lost In The
World’ and ‘Who Will Survive In America?’ have been taken illegally from Eddie
Bo’s ‘Hook and Sling: Part 1’.
Although the label
admit that Roc-A-Fella and UMG paid a licence fee of £62,000 for one sample,
they claim that ‘Ye "failed and refused to enter into written license
agreements that accounted for their multiple other uses of 'Hook and
want to receive compensation for what they claim is copyright infringement. According to NME, earlier this year the
label also sued the Beastie Boys the day before member Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch died.
