Kanye West's 'nike Air Yeezy Ii' Selling For Millions?
When Kanye West flipped at Nike’s CEO Mike Parker in public over a lack of royalties from his sneaker deal, it was looking like we were not going to see his latest (and overdue) collaboration with the sports brand; sneaker fans mentally kissed the Nike Air Yeezy II goodbye and began waiting on his upcoming collaboration with Adidas.
However, this weekend Nike pulled a Beyoncé and dropped the much sought-after red trainers on their website, putting the purchase link on their Twitter account. Of course, promotion was unnecessary – the $245 footwear sold out in under 15 minutes.
Moving onto the truly insane part – with the sneakers selling out in 11 minutes, many consumers took to bidding sites to sell their purchase, inevitably making a healthy profit. Check out one bid which is currently at TEN MILLION. TEN. MILLION. I’m still not sure if this is real life.
Perhaps his upcoming Adidas collection will be a little more attainable for the average fan.
'Ye previously told Angie Martinez of his move: “The old me without a daughter might have taken the Nike deal because I just love Nike so much. But the new me with a daughter takes the Adidas deal because I have royalties and I have to provide for my family.”
Update: The listing for the trainers was removed today (Feb 11).
