Kendrick Lamar Discusses ‘Swimming Pools’ & Dr. Dre's Detox
After collaborating with Dr.Dre on 'The Recipe', Kendrick Lamar recently spoke on his forthcoming album 'Detox' and its missing release date. It's been over a decade since 'Detox' was supposed to hit stores and fans are starting to become restless, with some even claiming the album is just a myth…
In a recent interview with Power 98fm, Lamar was promoting his upcoming LP 'good kid, m.A.A.d city' and when asked about the long-awaited LP, Lamar said: "Dre is definitely a perfectionist. I’m going to say this, y’all will get it when you get it. When he feels it’s time, then it’s time.”
Lamar was also probed on his latest single 'Swimming Pools' and claimed that it was inspired by his partying lifestyle as a teen and experiencing both the positive and negative effects of alcohol.
"'Swimming Pools' really just comes from the experience of being in a household where there's a lot of alcohol. I was growing up in a household where we had lots of house parties and stuff like that…
“Just taking the lifestyle and putting it into a song and getting advice out there [that] you can be a drunk, or you can drink casually.”
‘Good kid, m.A.A.d city’ is set to be released October 22.
