Labrinth: Mobo Nominees Are ‘A Bit Weird’
All-round musician Labrinth recently spoke about the MOBOs, telling the Daily Star newspaper that he feels the award show has grown out of what it was initially established for. The ‘Treatment’ singer said: ''I think it is a bit weird because Ed Sheeran doesn't make black music, and neither does Conor Maynard - he makes commercial pop…''
The MOBOs takes place on November 3 in Liverpool and Lab is up for three awards – Best UK Male, Best Album and Best R&B/Soul Act. He also grabbed a nomination for Best Song In Association With PRSforMusic with ‘Earthquake’ featuring Tinie Tempah.
The 23-year-old continued: ''Even I'm not making black music. It’s commercial music, but at least it is more related to hip-hop so it makes more sense.
''I don't think it should be called Music Of Black Origin anymore. It should be Music Of Urban Original, or just Music Awards.''
