Labrinth Talks New Album And Ignoring Ne-Yo
The Wrap Up's columnist, Labrinth, has lifted the lid on what can be expected on his debut album, the lead single from it and how one US superstar has been chasing after him...
The BRIT-winning singer/producer had a monumental year in 2010: collaborating with Tinie Tempah, releasing his own single and being signed to Simon Cowell's SyCo record label. Now working on his forthcoming debut, the 'Pass Out' producer recently spoke about his anticipated album.
He told Newsbeat: "I've been a bit of a hermit in my studio, creating some greatness, some wild stuff. I'm very, very excited about it – it’s going to be great!"
While the name of the album and its release date have yet to be confirmed, Labrinth did reveal the name of the first single to be taken from it: "I've been producing the new single, 'Earthquake', which is coming out soon."
Lab seems to be in demand. He has been busy producing hits for numerous artists, including the current Ms Dynamite banger, 'Neva Soft'. The 22-year-old has also had the likes of Ne-Yo trying in touch with him, but finishing the album his top priority right now.
"Ne-Yo tried to call my phone through one of my friends," Lab told Newsbeat. "I'm almost at the end of my album and as soon as I'm at the end of it, I know they'll all be rushing through the studio door."
