Lady Gaga: 'adele Has Set The Bar Very High For A Lot Of Women'
Having been the subject of much media attention following her reported weight gain, Lady Gaga has recently spoken out on the effect this may have on young girls, as well as the extent of her respect for Adele, who she claims has set the bar high for women in terms of confidence…
“I was acutely aware of some photos on the internet. My mum called me and was like: ‘Did you gain weight?’ Everybody was telling me about it and I didn’t really care.” Gaga recently told Stylist.
“But when I heard it was on the news, where they talk about wars, the economy crashing and the election – I just thought, ‘This is f**king ridiculous.’ I mean, what kind of example is that to a young girl sitting at home?” continued the singer, who has admitted to having suffered from an eating disorder.
Praising homegrown talent Adele, ‘Mother Monster,’ went on to add: “Adele is bigger than me, how come nobody says anything about it? She’s so wonderful and I think her confidence is something to match.
“She has set the bar very high for a lot of women. I need to be a confident woman and just say politically active things when I can that are helpful to young people.”
Gaga recently launched her ‘Body Revolution 2013,’ campaign, posting photos of herself in underwear alongside the words: “Bulimia and anorexia since I was 15. But today I join the BODY REVOLUTION. To inspire Bravery and BREED some m$therf**cking COMPASSION.”
