Leona Lewis Reveals Recording Rihanna’S ‘We Found Love’ First, Saying ‘Mine’S Better’
As Leona Lewis prepares to release her third album ‘Glassheart’ she has been speaking about her previous recording sessions in the process of creating the LP, revealing that she originally recorded the Calvin Harris-produced hit ‘We Found Love’. As we all know, the track was given to Rihanna in the end and was a worldwide hit, becoming one of the best-selling singles of all time…
Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday, Leona said: “I worked with Calvin and we recorded ‘We Found Love’. But he went touring with Rihanna and she ended up releasing it.
"I didn’t commit to it because I wanted ‘Trouble’ to be my first single so I think that was another reason they went with Rihanna. It was the same version and production but mine’s better.”
Lewis continued to say that she still has her version of the track, which was written by Harris and went to No.1 in 25 countries: “I still have the recording but I’d never leak it. That’s so unprofessional. There are so many songs I’ve recorded, only to hear other people singing them. It happens all the time."
However, the London-raised singer admitted: “It was a bit annoying to see how big a hit it was around the world but if I’d released it maybe it wouldn’t have done as well.”
