Lil Wayne On Hating Ny: 'i Say What I Want To Say... F**k Who Don't Like It'
After Lil Wayne revealed that he 'didn’t like New York’, fans and rappers alike were not impressed. Nevertheless, the ever-so laid back Weezy wasn’t even aware that people cared, as he revealed when he spoke to MTV News: "I have to be honest with you, dog. All I do is work, and I swear to God, I don't even know the reaction…
"If I knew the reaction I'd know how to be able to answer that question, but I don't know the reaction. I just say what I want to say, do what I want to do and f**k who don't like it."
Lil Wayne seemingly doesn’t remember performing alongside Nicki Minaj at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC back in August; it was after the show when the YMCMB head honcho spoke to MTV News, claiming the show was “awesome” before weighing in with a more controversial comment, stating: “flat out - I don’t like New York”.
It is surprising that Wayne didn’t realize there was such an issue with his comment, as NYC native Fabolous even made a track responding to Weezy’s statement entitled ‘So NY’, with lyrics, "I'm so New York, Weezy probably don't like me," Fab raps on the songs hook.
However, Wayne insisted he doesn’t even listen to any music other than his own as his main priority is perfecting his own craft: "Nah, I don't listen to nothin' else but myself, 'cause I'm just tryin' to get better," explained Weezy, who is preparing his upcoming ‘I Am Not a Human Being II’ LP.
"I always listen to what I could've said or done better, so I'm sorry."
