Lil Wayne Shares Thoughts On Drake Working On Aaliyah Album
During a rare interview with Associated Press, Lil Wayne spoke about Drake’s forthcoming posthumous Aaliyah album, saying it was “awesome”. Wayne had nothing but praise for his fellow Young Money rapper, stating: “Drake’s a very thoughtful person, everyone knows that. It’s an awesome collaboration. Everybody knows what Aaliyah did and done for music and culture…”
Weezy's response was triggered from the controversy involved around the making of the project. The likes of Missy Elliott, Ginuwine, Timbaland and DMX have all spoken out, denouncing the album and their involvement.
Missy previously made things clear by expressing her love for Aaliyah's family to MTV RapFix: “I have to respect her family, and until they come and say they’re ready to do an Aaliyah album then I don’t really want to get into that because it’s very sensitive.”
DMX took a more forceful approach, telling Power 105.1′s The Breakfast Club last month that it was “disrespectful” for Drake not to include people that were close to the singer claiming, “You can’t do s**t like that. It’s wrong."
Nevertheless, Lil Wayne supports Drake's journey and went on to credit the immeasurable talent that Aaliyah possesses, saying: “[Aaliyah's] music is still awesome. It’s still better than a lot of music out right now.”
Details of the project itself are still scattered.
