Missy & Timbaland Share Their Thoughts On Drake Working On Aaliyah Album
Since the Aaliyah track ‘Enough Said’ featuring Drake dropped online earlier this year, it has been said that an album will be released that will feature more material from the late singer. The public have displayed a mixed response to the news, as have some of Drake’s musical peers, including Missy Elliott and Timbaland…
Missy and Timbaland had a heavy hand in helping craft the sound of the singer in the late 90’s and took to Angie Martinez’ Hot 97 radio show to share their thoughts on Drizzy releasing unreleased material.
Tim said: “I don’t think that’s even in the works… I think it’s blown out of proportion.”
According to Rap-Up, Missy spoke about how she felt about Drake bringing Aaliyah’s music back to life: “My response would be a little different because I have to respect her family and until they come and say we’re ready to do an Aaliyah album, and then I don’t really want to try and get into that because it’s really sensitive.”
She also said that she felt hesitant to use material that Aaliyah may not have wanted to release, saying: “Maybe she didn’t feel like they were her best work. We don’t want to tap into that.”
However, Missy said she understands that the ‘Take Care’ rapper is a big fan: “He’s a human being too and a lot of people might not have met Michael Jackson, but feel a connection with him.”
