MTV Review: The Game – ‘Blood Moon – The Year Of The Wolf’
We took a spin of The Game's latest LP...and loved it!
Rapper The Game has been hard at work in the studio, cooking up the project that is ‘Blood Moon YOTW’ – which follows up his 2012 smash LP ‘Jesus Piece’. Released through the LA rapper’s Blood Money Entertainment label, the record confirms his pace in West Coast hip-hop royalty…
After the success of singles ‘Bigger Than Me’ and ‘Or Nah’, fans – including myself – were left wondering what the rapper-turned reality star would conjure up for his long awaited LP. On the project, the 34-year old rapper teams up with the who’s who of rap, including cameos from Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Jeezy, Tyga, Ty Dolla $ign and T.I to deliver a strong LP full of authentic hip-hop tunes.
On his 2005 debut, the ‘Marrying The Game’ star sent shockwaves through the industry with his cut-throat lyrics, and on the single ‘Bigger Than Me’, he shows that nine years later he’s still on top form, spitting: “N****s talking that s**t ’bout the new generation, man. F**k these n****s, I’ll slash your f*****g faces.”
Known for dropping the names of various celebs in his intricate rhymes, the controversial ‘Hate It Or Love It’ rapper took shots at the likes of director Tyler Perry and basketball player Jason Terry on the track ‘Married to the Game’, rapping: “See you on them cameras, Jason Terry in this motherf****r. If gay is happy, I’m Tyler Perry in this motherf****r.”
This album is definitely worth a spin, with The Game proving that after a decade in the business, he’s still West Coast royalty with a wealth of lyrical precision. Not one to disappoint, the rapper is set to spoil fans with the release of The Documentary 2 on the tenth anniversary of his groundbreaking studio debut.
