Musicians Speak Out Against Uk Riots
The aftermath of what started off as peaceful protests, after Mark Duggan was shot dead by police last Thursday in Tottenham, has led to numerous people taking advantage of the situation: looting and setting fire to several areas in London, Birmingham, Liverpool and Bristol...
The situation, which appears to be something that the police are struggling to control, has been a hot topic on Twitter and many young musicians have not been shy to air their views on the matter.
Jessie J: "This is NOT how to gain respect. This is NOT how to get justice. This is NOT how to gain peace."
Scorcher: "It just dawned on me that people are setting fire to houses with women and children in nearly killing them. F**K THAT TO THE MAX #ItsNotOn."
Chipmunk: "There are so many different outcomes when you grow up where I grew up. None the less, I just want the best for us all! Tottenham keep shining!"
Wiley: "I hope it stops, but I’ve learned that these youts are uncontrollable."
JaJa Soze (PDC): "And if you’re going to burn things up, at least burn something that hurts them and not the community. Curry’s and the local Asian shop isn’t cool.
Ms Dynamite: "We can judge and point the finger, but these are OUR children and this is a reflection of how WE have let them down! WE ARE 'ALL' RESPONSIBLE!
Mz Bratt: "Knowledge is power and in the bigger picture right now, a lot of people have neither."
Here’s hoping that all of this madness will end very soon.
