Nas Discusses Filming The ‘Cherry Wine’ Video Without Amy, Saying 'it Was Touchy’
Nas recently touched down in London city to perform tracks from his eleventh album, ‘Life Is Good’. The rapper, who has released ‘The Don’ and ‘Daughters’ from his latest album, recently dropped the video for ‘Cherry Wine’ featuring Amy Winehouse, which trended on Twitter for over a day…
The video sees Nas play a young bartender (he really has spent ‘20 years in this game looking 17’) in a chic bar with a chic lady, with a video of Amy singing being projected onto the wall. MTV's The Wrap Up recently caught up with the Queensbridge rapper, who said of the video: “It was touchy - I just wanted to respect her [Amy Winehouse’s] memory.
“She was not like any of these artists that are out today; it had to be done in a way that was right. I had to make sure it didn’t look pop; I had to make sure it felt natural.”
He concluded: “The director made it happen, he knew what I wanted - I love the way it came out. Of course, we all wish she was still here with us to do the video, but I’m a rider and I’m keeping that memory alive.”
Look out for our full interview with Nas coming soon; for now, check out the ‘Cherry Wine’ video after the jump.
