Nas To Co-Headline Lovebox Alongside M.i.a
New York rapper Nas has been added as a surprise headliner at this year’s Lovebox festival. Hot on the heels of the 20th anniversary of classic LP ‘Illmatic’, the 40-year-old is set to join a heavyweight line up including ‘Bad Girls’ singer M.I.A, A$AP Rocky, Joey Bada$$ and Katy B…
According to NME, the ‘Daughters’ rapper is set to co-headline Saturday night of the two day event in London’s Victoria park alongside M.I.A, with the rapper – real name Nasir Jones – performing a set consisting of jams from the classic 1994 album. In further commemoration of the album’s 20th birthday, Jones’ camp have released a repackaged version of the classic LP ‘Illmatic XX’ which promises fans a remixed version of the classic single ‘Life’s a B***h’ along with unreleased material to accompany a documentary about the making of the record, which will open this year’s Tribeca Film Festival on April 19.
Whilst speaking at Georgetown University, the rapper recently discussed his modern day contemporaries who shy away from addressing conscious issues, saying: “I don’t see enough emcees who are brave enough to be honest … I would like to see more of that. There’s a lot of good stuff. There’s a lot of bad in Rap.”
