Nicki Minaj, Pitbull Lie About Their Wealth In Songs, Says Report
Inspired by Jay-Z’s ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail track’ ‘Versus’ in which the hip-hop mogul blasts rappers who claim to have more wealth than they actually do, Business Week have published research which is said to prove many a rapper are talking the talk far more than walking the walk. The worst offenders? Pitbull and Nicki Minaj…
The research shows that while both artists have lyrics alluding to making a billion in recent songs, the reality of the situation is, in fact, very different.
Pitbull tops the list of rappers whose actual earnings come in way under their lyrical bravado. In 2012 song ‘Feel This Moment’ Pitbull spat “Now make dollars, I mean billions, I’m a genius.” But his reported 2012 earnings come in at $9.5 million – considerably less.
Nicki Minaj comes second on the graph, having claimed she made a billion in her track ‘Up In Flames,’ but with a reported 2012 earning of $15.5 million.
Jay-Z was closest to his rap persona, having claimed to have made half a billion, and actually coming pretty close with his impressive $475.
