No Win For Adele At This Year's Mercury Music Prize? Something Went Drastically Wrong!
There was a lot of fuss made last night over P J Harvey winning the coveted Mercury Music Prize, so we thought it would only be right to discuss why…
Sorry, but, no Adele win? This must be some type of joke, right? Nope! It's common knowledge that the prize and the judging panel don't go by sales and only by the music – "The music on the album is the only thing taken into account", it says on the Barclaycard Mercury Prize website – so if that's the case, then why was it not given to the artist who tied together lovers of folk with lovers of grime, old and young, male and female – Adele?
Fair enough there were some well needed nods to the scene, with Tinie Tempah’s 'Disc-Overy' and Katy B's 'Katy On A Mission' making the shortlist, but is P J Harvey really representing 2011 as Album Of The Year? We think not. We're kind of glad Adele was too sick to perform at the awards ceremony, because it probably would have been a mockery.
