Premiere: Kid Bookie Unveils New Mixtape ‘You’ll Rate Me When I’m Dead’
After giving people a first listen to snippets of the tracks on Sian Anderson’s 1Xtra show last night, we’re now able to bring you the release in its entirety and you can stream the whole thing via our Soundcloud below.
‘YRMWID’ is far from your typical UK mixtape and showcases the many talents that Kid Bookie possesses in terms of musical ability. Created alongside Christie, who provides some solid vocal segments throughout the release, the eight track project twists and turns from fast-paced, energetic, hard-hitting bars sprayed over powerful beats to much more thought provoking, measured tunes that see Bookie cover getting really introspective in places.
Talking to Sian about his sound, Kid Bookie said, “Before anything, I grew up on Rock music. I grew up on Slipknot so when all the kids were doing other things they used to tell me “you listen to Slipknot - you’re different” and I like that so those are the kinds of things I wanted to put in and I wanted it to translate into my sound. If I can let that resonate with the people and they can understand what I make and what I do then that’s what my sound is.”
With additional features and production coming from the likes of Zeph Ellis and U.S rapper Nasaan, the sheer depth of this mixtape is enough to demand it goes on repeat right away. So plug in your headphones or turn your speakers up and take in this latest piece of brilliance from an artist you’re going to be hearing a lot more about in 2016 and beyond.
