Professor Green On 2009 Stabbing: “It Happened, But It’S Not A Major Part Of Me Or My Music...”
Professor Green has been speaking to our buddies across the globe at MTV Canada, telling them that he wants everyone to get over his stabbing three years ago. The Hackney rapper was attacked in a nightclub in 2009, being stabbed in the neck with a broken bottle, but the chart-topper now wants to put the horrific incident to bed...
He said: "If me being stabbed in the neck never came up again, I'd be completely okay with that. There's nothing like being at a photo shoot and having [the director] be like, 'Okay, can you just turn your head to the side?' and it's like, 'What so you can see where I've been stabbed? You want a picture of that?' I kind of keep in tongue and cheek, it happened, but it's not a major part of me or my music. I didn't come out being like, 'I'm a gangster, I got stabbed!' Effectively I was the victim, what's cool about that?"
The 'Read All About It' star also told the news crew about the immense growth of English rap of recent, saying: "The rap scene in England is probably in the best place it's ever been. I think because everyone let go of the American'isms and found their own voice, and started talking as English people, you know, people really started relating to it."
