Review: I Luv Live 10th Anniversary
I Luv Live celebrated their 10th birthday with an array of acts...
I Luv Live celebrated their 10th birthday on Monday June 16, which saw A-List artists Emeli Sande, Naughty Boy and Jessie J take to the stage to share their stories and memories of I Luv Live and their musical talent. Twin B and Ras Kwame shared the hosting duties, keeping the crowd entertained in-between performances.
Ghetts kicked things off with tracks from his current album ‘Rebel With A Cause’ performing tracks ‘Rebel’ and ‘What I’ve Done’ with singer Cameron Broomfield joining him on stage. He really got the crowd hyped for the rest of the night.
South London singer Tanika was next up with her chilling, soulful vocals that made the audience just stand in awe. She performed a personal track about her sister, freedom and love, which really gave more of an insight into her, along with single ‘Bad 4 U’.
Blizzard is a rapper that hails from Manchester and has well deservingly marked his place in the grime scene. He entertained the crowd by beatboxing as there were some technical issues and transformed from that to a rapper, to then jumping on the piano with slowed down bars and even singing! He premiered his new track with singer Shakka ‘Come To Mine’ and I could tell this was going to be a hit already. He also announced he would be playing the holy grail of festivals, Glastonbury.
X Factor’s Rough Copy slowed things down after Blizzard’s hyped set to bring some smooth harmonies, performing their latest single ‘Street Love’.
Jacob Banks has a voice is like none other and his songs go deep into your soul. He brought a soulful reggae vibe too, covering Bob Marley’s ‘Is This Love’. His uniqueness sets him completely apart from anyone, but it’s his presence too that make watching him unforgettable.
Stylo G brought that dancehall energy like no other with tracks such as ‘Call Mi A Yardie’ and ‘Tun Up’ which has the crowd going berserk.
It was then time for the two headline acts Emeli Sande and Naughty Boy. Naughty Boy was first to touch down. Naughty Boy talked mid-way through about how he saw Emeli at a previous I Luv Live performance where she performed a song called ‘My Babies Eyes’ and he had to talk to her. Aren’t we glad he did? The two together are a match made in heaven. Her vocals with his producing skills are sure winners. They begun with ‘Heaven’ Emeli’s debut single moving onto tracks such as ‘Wonder’ and ‘Next To Me’, with the crowd singing along and just stunned by her angelic voice.
Jessie J was the surprise guest of the night. She performed four acoustic tracks, showing why she is the global superstar she is today, stunning the audience with her voice.
