Rock Band The Vaccines Say Rihanna ‘Isn’T An Artist’
Bajan hitmaker Rihanna has recently come under fire for lacking authenticity as an artist by indie-rock outfit The Vaccines. The band admit they are not fans of RiRi, as they say although she sells albums, she lacks writing or production credits for her work…
Speaking to Digital Spy, the bands guitarist Freddie Cowan explained: Rihanna isn’t an artist - she has 15 writers, 15 songwriters and 15 producers all fighting for space on her albums and she's the face of it.
"I have nothing against it, but I don't want to be associated with it."
His comments came about whilst discussing the first lady of ROC Nation’s collaboration with Coldplay, stating that the single lacked ‘artistic merit’ because of Rihanna’s input. The backlash has come about after an emotional week for the ‘Umbrella’ singer, who is reported to be unhappy over ex-boyfriend Chris Brown’s partying with R&B singer Christina Milian.
After her admission that she is still in love with Chris during an interview with Oprah Winfrey, People Magazine report that the singer was pining for her ex whilst they partied at the same club over the past weekend.
According to sources, Rihanna was “pretending to dance and mingle, but really she was intently watching all the fun Chris and Christina were having.”
They added that although she was accompanied by reality star Rob Kardashian, "you could tell she really just wanted Chris to pay attention and talk to her, but he was totally ignoring her.”
