Russell Simmons talks Success, Happiness and Motivation
The music mogul shares what success means to him…
US Music mogul Russell Simmons recently joined the Grammy U video channel to chat about the music industry, Jay Z and the secret to success. During the chat, Simmons spoke on his latest brainchild, All Def Digital, a platform for curated content which he says is “the best of what’s out there”…
Speaking on his new venture, the Def Jam founder – known for his catalogue of personal development books - spoke extensively about why he’s chosen to launch it for the people, stating. “It’s a place where people can express themselves in ways the gatekeepers wouldn’t allow in the past”.
Following a wide ranging conversation, covering all aspects of the business, Russ rounded it off with his thoughts on what success is, saying: “Success to me is happiness. Money can’t make you happy, but happy can make you money. For those who think ‘I’ll be happy when I get that money,’ no. You’ll get that money when you’re happy. The reality is that you have to operate from a present space. Presence promotes happiness, and when you have that kind of happiness…you attract good things.”
