Russell Simmons Wants To Try And Help The Uk's Young People
Following the London riots, which have escalated to other parts of the UK in the last four days, Russell Simmons announced over Twitter yesterday (August 9) that he might be coming to the city to help the young people. The hip-hop mogul sent out a message to BBC 1Xtra’s Tim Westwood, tweeting: “Someone in London tell Tim Westwood to call me...”
Russell later wrote: “Waiting to see whether I can help England? If you’re not going?...Go see The Help…What a movie!”
With such an immediate response to Russell’s tweets from followers, the Def Jam Records co-founder makes it clear on the social networking site, saying: “FYI, we are not going to London tonight. Will assess the situation tomorrow and figure out a game plan. Thanks all for your patience.”
It’s going to take more than one person to make a change to the violent scenes currently taking place on streets around the UK. But positive steps have to be made to change the attitudes of some young people.
